Chlorophyll Natures Purifier

Chlorophyll is an amazing gift of nature. Chlorophyll is the reason leafy green vegetables are green. It can be found as a liquid in the refrigerated section of your local health food store. There have been many studies suggesting that chlorophyll can be used as a treatment for several ailments and as a maintenance supplement. It’s an important part of your home remedy pantry since it can be used both topically and internally. What an exciting addition to our home remedy series!

What is Chlorophyll?

Chlorophyll is what makes all plants green. The lack of chlorophyll is the reason for the beautiful Autumn color palette. If you remember your plant life-cycle project from grade school you may remember that plants use chlorophyll to make food. It’s an essential part of photosynthesis. One interesting aspect of chlorophyll is its molecular similarity to human blood. Don’t let that weird you out. It just means that instead of hemoglobin the central atom is magnesium. This makes it very easy to digest and assimilate.

The Many Benefits of This Liquid Superfood

Chlorophyll is proven to have a long list of health benefits, including:

  • Curing chronic bad breath
  • Helps ease constipation
  • Helps increase the healing rate of wounds when used topically as a spray
  • Treats pancreatitis (when used intravenously)
  • Helps control hunger/cravings
  • Reduces body odor
  • Binds to toxic metals and some carcinogens to help pass them out of your body
  • An antioxidant that protects cells from damage
  • Helps control candida (check out our candida article)
  • Adds easily-assimilated iron to your diet
  • Increases energy

There are many reasons to add chlorophyll to your diet. Personally, I use chlorophyll as part of my wellness routine. I get it in liquid form from my local health food store and keep it in my fridge. I don’t feel the benefits using the pill form that I do with liquid. However, others may prefer the pill form. Some people feel it has a salty bitter taste. If you add it to juice it’s very easy to take. I like taking mine straight but I had to build up to this. (I actually really like the taste now.) It can dye anything it touches – including your counter top! Unless you want to dye something with this natural pigment, be careful pouring it. You will also want to rinse your mouth with a little water after because it can temporarily make your mouth green. I have issues with chronic fatigue. When I fail to replenish my chlorophyll stores I notice a marked decrease in my energy. When I was pregnant with my daughter I had trouble digesting my prenatal vitamins and my iron supplements. I wanted to find an easier way for my body to absorb these nutrients. Chlorophyll became one of my go-to supplements. It helped me maintain my iron and gave me the energy I needed during my last trimester. You need to talk to your healthcare provider before adding any supplements to your daily wellness routine. Be careful if you are pregnant, nursing, or have an existing condition that may need to be considered. I had to plan my chlorophyll intake carefully because it seemed to upset my infant’s tummy when breastfeeding. Chlorophyll can increase your sun sensitivity so remember your sunscreen! Try adding chlorophyll to your herbal remedies and you may just experience a noticeable increase in your quality of life!
