Dubai Electric Police Car Many countries have taken the initiative to make the environment a priority. Nordic countries like Sweden and Norway famously concentrate on reducing their impact on the environment – at one point, they even ran out of trash because they recycle everything so well. One surprisingly Earth friendly country is Dubai, known for its wealth and glamour. Dubai is implementing several sustainable, environmentally sound ideas, leading the way to a greener future.

Eco-friendly Transit Plan

Many of the carbon emissions harming the planet are due to transportation, so Dubai has decided to concentrate their efforts on environmentally sound transport with four main objectives: minimizing exhaust on vehicles, improving fuel quality, adhering to global standards for emissions, and using hybrid vehicles. They have implemented a line of hybrid taxis to transfer customers around the city. Additionally, they have plans to cut carbon emissions from vehicles by two percent, dropping from 4.5 to 2.5 percent and ban any imported cars more than five years old due to high emissions. Furthermore, vehicles older than twenty years will not be able to get a renewal of their registration.

Police Mini-Car

Recently, the Dubai police have a new type of transport, a small electric car that seats one person, as an article in Emirates247 explains. In its initial phase, it will peruse the busy streets of Deira. Due to its size, it can pursue violators throughout the narrow streets. Although there is only one such car being used at this point, the Dubai police force hopes to include more once the trial period is finished. Although this is in line with Dubai’s pursuit to be greener, it also falls into place with the Dubai police force’s desire to use the most advanced technology and vehicles to keep visitors and residents safe.

Sewage Disposal

Dubai is evaluating the newest technology for green, efficient sewage technology from an Italian firm. It can pump more than 30,000 liters of sewage in only 30 seconds, improving the efficacy of the country’s sewage system. It not only saves time and is efficient; it is beneficial to the environment. It only takes a half hour rather than a half a day to empty a tank, and it will clean as it works, preventing any mud problems. Because it works more efficiently, it saves many of the Earth’s resources. Additionally, it is friendly to its human neighbors, with less smell and noise pollution.

Green Infrastructure

In addition to its vehicles and sewage, Dubai is implementing an environmentally friendly infrastructure. Although known for its massive skyscrapers and luxurious hotels, the new models will be built with the Earth in mind. Any new building built in Dubai must follow guidelines that will not adversely affect the environment or disturb nature. Water and energy use will be conserved as much as possible, with ecologically friendly systems being used. Sustainability will be a factor as well, to ensure that soil erosion and other problems will not occur. Although a hot real estate spotlight and up and coming country, Dubai is finding ways to be eco-friendly. Through a mixture of water conservation, building laws, and vehicle regulations, the country is working on decreasing its carbon footprint. As it moves forward as a green country, others can follow its lead. Above image source: YouTube/MOTORIST
