Organic Makeup

Beauty products made from organic ingredients that are free of fertilizers and pesticides are in greater demand now than ever before. Your skin absorbs 64% of what is placed on it; therefore, it is vital that you use only healthy beauty products. As years go by, you will see a difference in the effects chemical products have on your skin compared to the healthier appearance and feel of your skin when you use organic beauty products.

Advantages of using Organic Beauty Products

Using organic beauty products is much healthier for your skin than using synthetic products that contain harsh chemicals. This goes for soaps, detergents, shampoos and fragrances too. Organic beauty products are made from plants, oils, minerals and other natural ingredients. They are eco-friendly, do not harm the environment or animals, and rarely cause allergic reactions. Beware of products that are not actually labeled “organic,” but use some creative form of the word “organic” in their name. This is misleading, and does not mean the products are certified organic.

Make-Up

Organic ingredients used in make-up include algae extract, which is soothing to the skin, and chestnut extract, cinnamon, hematite and iron oxides, which are used for coloring in face powders. Mica, a transparent mineral, provides shimmer in facial cosmetics, and silk powder is used to help even out skin tones in organic makeup products. Mandarin orange peel extract helps fade freckles, and morus root aids in lightening dark spots on the skin. Sage extract can be used as a natural deodorant, and sunflower oil and wild ginger root have a soothing effect when massaged into sore muscles.

Organic Skin Care

There are a variety of wonderful organic skin care products available that are made from healthy ingredients like almond butter and mango butter for moisturizing, aloe vera juice for soothing skin irritations, tea tree oil for treating acne and collagen, which helps diminish wrinkles and other signs of aging. Cucumber is a natural astringent, evening primrose oil is good for eczema, and oatmeal and walnut shells are great for exfoliating skin. Riboflavin strengthens fingernails, and zinc promotes skin cell regeneration when used in organic makeup products.

Cleansers and Fragrances

Castile soap is a mild vegetable oil-based product that is safe for the whole family, Celtic sea salt makes an excellent natural bath crystal, and sarsaparilla root is used to make organic detergents. Green clay is rich in minerals and is used in natural, deep cleaning facial masks, while honeysuckle oil and panthenol are ingredients commonly used in organic shampoos. Bay rum is great in men’s colognes, while sage oil, geranium oil, juniper berries and jasmine are often used in women’s fragrances. Make sure you choose products that are labeled “organic” instead of “natural.” There are no regulations on products that market themselves as natural; however, products that are labeled “organic” must contain USDA certified organic ingredients that come from farms that do not use pesticides, artificial fertilizers or other toxic chemicals. For this reason, it is better to use organic make up instead of products labeled as natural.
