Life can often feel chaotic, and we can easily be wrapped up in our individual troubles. Stopping time hardly seems possible, but some say that it is possible to find peace even in the most stressful times. Today’s culture seems to be conspiring against us, seducing us into looking outside ourselves for our happiness. However, there is a way you can achieve the feeling of stopping time for a moment at least.

Give Yourself a Timeout

If we take the opportunity to give ourselves a timeout, we can help to relieve a lot of stress in our lives. Making some time for yourself every day allows you to reduce the stress of your relationships, your job, and the wear and tear of everyday life. Nevertheless, this can be difficult unless you know about simple meditation! Meditation can relax your body and calm your mind, but it can take practice. Over time, your racing thoughts will ease, and you will find ways to meditate even while at work. Taking moments to focus on breathing and clear your mind cannot only offer you peace but can have a positive effect on your health.

Breathe Away Stress

When you first start learning how to meditate you will most likely first learn how to breathe correctly. Many people don’t take deep breaths and find themselves exhausted before the day is over. You need a moment in time where you can be free of the everyday and have a chance to breathe. Start your relaxation session by stretching muscles and loosening them, roll your head from side to side slowly to relax your neck and get rid of the tension. Follow that with slow deep breathing. If you can close your eyes, it will help you to concentrate more on your breathing and less on the business around you. Proper breathing and meditation can help prevent depression, and helps you sleep better. You can also use effective breathing techniques without having to stop what you’re doing! Have you noticed that the pace of your breathing increases when you’re stressed? Calm your mind with deep, rhythmic breathing through your nose. Avoid breathing through your mouth. Throughout the day, take notice of your breathing. The nose acts as a filter for irritants in the air, such as dust, and pollution. Also, try not to move your shoulders and instead concentrate on expanding your rib cage and abdomen with each breath as the air flows deeper into your lungs. Do everything you can to set at least 15 minutes aside every day to de-stress. At the end of every day, you will find you will sleep deeper, your health will improve, and you may even notice a difference in your skin as well as your ability to make decisions. A little meditation goes a long way.
