Part of being true to ourselves and others is living a life free from deception. As an individual seeking a more organic lifestyle, you already pride yourself on being honest. You may look for honesty in your food by reading the ingredients, and learning what is safe for you and your family. Perhaps you seek out honestly in your relationships by being open and sharing your cares and worries. But, what lies are you telling yourself?

Lying to Yourself

There are many common ways we lie to ourselves, holding back our ability to live a truly honest life. Whenever we measure our own worth according to someone else’s merits, we are lying to ourselves. Whenever we compare ourselves to another person, we are deceiving ourselves. If you have ever thought that you are not enough or not worthy of a good life, you have done yourself a terrible disservice. Everything you tell yourself that may tear down your self-worth is a lie. You deserve the truth!

Change is Good

Many of us have certain traits we would like to change in ourselves. We exercise to improve or maintain our health. We educate ourselves to become more intelligent. We even physically move locations for better employment or peace of mind. Seeking a higher sense of self is what makes you such an amazing and adaptable human being. But we can seek improvement in our lives and still be content being in the now. Honing our character ensures that we can eliminate any bad habits before they start. But, what if the changes you seek are not fair to the person you really are?

Live as You

Once you are honest with yourself and good to yourself, you can be honest with others as well. After tearing down our defensive barriers and finding our self-confidence, we can live our lives appreciating everyone’s unique abilities. Rather than feel like less when we are around those we admire, we can know that our worth is based on our own sense of character. It’s liberating to gauge your life based on your own self-image rather than someone else’s achievements. You can wake up every morning and face any obstacle. You live your life in a fair manner and give your whole heart to everything you do. You love and appreciate others, and you share this life energy that flows freely through every living thing. When we are stuck in this self-destructive cycle of comparison, we discredit the life that we are blessed with.

Be kind to yourself and embrace who you are today!

Our lives only improve when we are willing to take chances and the first and most difficult risk we can take is to be honest with ourselves.” ~Walter Anderson
