Food Wash & USDA During the past few decades, people have come to realize just how critically important it is to wash food before preparing and eating it. However, it would seem as though the USDA may have missed the memo in this regard by stating that it may be more of a health risk to wash your turkey (and other food) prior to preparation.

Makes no Sense at All

According to the latest report released by the USDA, the department claims that it is virtually impossible to remove all forms of dirt and harmful bacteria from food simply by rinsing it. They have also stated that, when washing a turkey, other forms of meat or even fresh produce, there is always the possibility that the water and juices that splash around during the washing process can contaminate other surfaces in your kitchen. While this type of cross-contamination does have the potential to cause illness, this reasoning alone should by no means be a basis for not washing food before cooking it.

Cross-Contamination is in Fact Preventable

It would seem that the USDA is completely ignorant to the fact that, by using an organic food wash product, the issue of cross-contamination as well as bacterial contamination can actually be completely avoided. Washing your hands with an organic hand wash product will also go a long way in helping prevent the spread of germs in your kitchen. Not only will using an organic food wash prevent the spread of harmful bacteria such as salmonella and E. coli., it will also ensure that dirt and other potentially harmful chemicals are also eliminated from your food.

Create an Unstoppable Cleaning Team

Contrary to the rather absurd USDA claim stating that there is no way to remove bacteria from foodstuffs, using an organic food wash along with an organic everyday cleaner will ensure that kitchen work surfaces and food can indeed be deemed bacteria-free. These products will not only ensure that your home is clean and free from harmful bacteria; they will also provide you with absolute peace of mind knowing that no harmful chemical residue has been left behind after cleaning surfaces and washing food.

Far Exceeding Expectations

The USDA currently claims that cooking your turkey at 165°F is the only way to eliminate harmful bacteria. However, it would seem as though this organization has once again failed to do their research with regards to the use of organic food wash products. These products have proven their safety and effectiveness many times over, not to mention the fact that they are now also more affordable than ever. These days, organic food wash products are more widely available than before, so there is no reason to not try them out. Not only will you be doing your part in protecting the health of your family; you will also be helping to protect the environment by taking a stand against using harmful chemical-based products. As for the most recent USDA report regarding the non-washing of food, we should ensure that we do not take everything we read at face value. Image Source/Flickr/Dan4th Nicholas
